Whilst exploring a family archive of photos, as can often be the case, our speaker Polly Ernest came across one particular ancestor whose attitudes and behaviours were what we would now consider to be beyond the pale. Entitled “Ancestral Responsibility”, Polly will raise some questions through the concept of historic responsibility – how do we view, understand and rationalise the unacceptable historic past, especially when it includes a recent ancestor?
