The Council’s declaration of a Climate Emergency was a wonderful and surprising result but by no means an end to our work and efforts. Indeed, it is just the beginning! We have a commitment from the council to reach zero carbon by 2030 – that’s only 11 years in which to achieve so much. In order for there to be real change, we have to ensure that we have the right people in the council. We won’t tell you how to vote, but urge you to look at your local councillor and their voting record and see if they are the right person to get the job done. If they’re not, who is? Please make sure you vote once you have identified the right person, and support others (by sharing information, helping with voting registration etc) to do the same. Let’s consolidate what has been achieved so far by choosing the right people to get the job done!
