Film “In our Hands- Seeding Change” – 25 Oct

“The decisions made this year are going to literally effect the farming landscape of these isles for many years to come.”

Herefordshire Green Network are delighted to be hosting another film showing of the popular “In Our Hands – Seeding Change” – this time at the Courtyard Theatre on Thurs 25 October at 8 pm. We are also lucky enough to be able to have a Q & A session with the film’s creators afterwards.

Food and farming is in crisis. In just over a decade we’ve lost more than 33,000 farms from our countryside and alongside this, bad diet is now causing more health problems than smoking. The fundamental link between people, food and the land has been broken. Yet it need not be this way.  There is a growing movement of farmers and food workers who are creating vibrant farms, living soils, thriving food markets ad fairer food system for all.  At the heart of all change lies a story and In Our Hands is the story of a new kind of farm, a new kind of food and a new kind of society.

Alice Bowerman, a local farmer who brought the film to Herefordshire back in May says: “Herefordshire needs support for a more local, sustainable food system, that provides local farmers and growers with a decent wage.  This film is what our future is all about – how we produce food.”

Ian of the Landworker’s Alliance, a partner in making the film says: “There’s never been a more important time in the last 50 years to have the voices of small scale farmers around the table. An important Agriculture Bill will be debated in Parliament this autumn, and as we head towards Brexit the historic subsidies available to farmers will change…. we have the opportunity to re-imagine the subsidy landscape for generations to come.  The decisions made this year are going to literally effect the landscape of these isles for many years to come.”

Tickets are available from the Courtyard website.
