Diocesan Online Conference – Tuesday November 17th 7-9pm

Eco church – building momentum with God’s people

Join us for an opportunity to gain inspiration, practical ideas and understanding as we move forwards together on our Hereford Eco Diocese journey. The pandemic has left many of our plans, including our environmental aspirations, floundering as we adjust to so many massive changes to our lives and to our churches. But the environmental crisis and the looming impacts of climate change have not gone away. This conference provides a wonderful opportunity to regroup, rethink options and share our stories. We can guarantee that it will bring new inspiration to help you move further along our Eco Church journey.

Bishop Richard will welcome us to the conference. We are delighted to have Andy Atkins, CEO of A Rocha UK and a leading environmentalist who has previously worked with Tearfund and Friends of the Earth, as our key speaker. He will provide a theological reflection on the grief and lamentation brought about from Covid-19 and growing environmental concerns; and then move on to look at how we can respond as God’s people to lead the way forward, in our lives, in our churches and in this Diocese. We will look at the five key areas which Eco Church presents and learn from Churches around the Diocese about how they are responding to these. We will also consider the bigger picture for Hereford as an Eco Diocese with all the opportunities and challenges this brings, as we move forward to engage with the Church of England’s net zero goal for 2030, and next year’s UN Climate summit in Glasgow.

Booking for the conference is free but you need to register in advance here. After registering you will receive more information about joining the meeting.

We encourage churches to ensure that several people attend from each church to facilitate a positive response. And please spread the word to others. This is a great opportunity that you can engage with from the comfort of your own home!!
