“Building Back Better” – ideas for supporting change

Thanks to James Hitchcock from the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust for sending this information about ways that you can support a better future:

Visit the Wildlife and Countryside Link website here. WCL is a unique coalition of charitable organisations concerned with the conservation and protection of wildlife and the countryside. Their work includes a response to the government’s 25 year Environment Plan here.

Join the Virtual Lobby for climate, nature and people. On 30 June the Climate Coalition are coming together for a virtual lobby, inviting you, and thousands of others to ask MPs to put people, climate and nature at the heart of our nation’s recovery. More details of how you can get involved are here

Learn about the Agriculture Bill, which has been in the news a lot recently. It is a once in a generation opportunity to move toward a more sustainable, agroecological food and farming system in England that is resilient to future change. Greener UK and Wildlife and Countryside Link priorities for the bill are shown in their briefing document which can be accessed via this link

Get informed about national policy making. Sometimes we need to make our voices heard at a national as well as local level, but the process of how proposals move to become laws can be very confusing. The infographic below shows how bills become laws – more details on this web page. The Agriculture bill is at the 2nd reading stage, so actions include asking MP’s to ask probing questions at the 3rd reading and for the Lord’s to do the same.
