British Bathing Water Near Bottom of European League Table

Living near such clear, clean rivers, it’s easy to forget the high level of pollution in the waters around us. A study has shown that our beaches have some of the dirtiest water in the continent with very little improvement since last year. Only four countries are ranked below Britain, with beaches such as those in Worthing and Bognor Regis rated lowest in the country. Overall, about 85% of the water is rated ‘excellent’ but this is still letting down the delicate ecosystems that rely on its cleanliness. With so much uncertainty, one wonders if we’ll see another year of little change.
