The US author Andrew Boyd interviewed lots of people about their responses to our predicament and developed 16 monologues representing the different responses he received. Andrew Boyd’s work was published in Volume 11 of The Dark Mountain Project & first performed in Portsmouth October 17. In order to bring this to a larger audience, Climate Change Conversations – ’12 Characters in Search of an Apocalypse’, was developed as a Giraffe Social Enterprises (GSE) production of his work. Jason, who ran the evening I attended has been very helpful in making it possible for me to do so too.

During the evening 12 Characters offer their diverse, complex perspectives on living today, what they see coming towards them, and what they are (or aren’t) doing about it. Using the words of the Characters as seeds for our own conversation we will have a chance to engage and explore our own complicated relationships with the questions that arise because of the unravelling of the living systems that we are part of.

We will begin promptly at 18:30 hrs with the reading of the 12 monologues. Please arrive between 18.00 hrs and 18:30 hrs to get re

freshments and settle. The readings take around 90 minutes with brief interludes for discussion. Our time afterwards is for an open conversation to explore the affects these changes are having on ourselves, our families and our communities.

XR Hereford hope to see you there!
